In our last birthing class, moms from the class before came to tell their stories. One of the poor ladies labored for 24 hours, got to 10cm, and then while pushing the midwife realized the baby was breech. Numerous people had felt the baby and was sure she was head down, and wasn't. So....even though I was almost positive, as was my midwife, we decided to get an u/s done just to be sure! We didn't get very good pics since I'm 37 weeks, but we did get to see him. His eyes were open which was crazy to see, and the tech said he had tons of hair, which I couldn't tell, but that would be crazy b/c DD still doesn't have much hair!
Anyways, here's the pic. I feel like his nose looks squishy but it doesn't look like that in the other pic, so maybe just a weird angle. He is head down, and definitely still a boy!
This happened to me! With my first, I labored to 10cm and as they set up the room for me to start pushing the doctor realized baby was breech (had been breech the entire pregnancy, but she never caught it). Thankfully I was only in labor for 7 hours, but I was disappointed since everything was going perfect (made it with no pain meds even with pitocin). I had an emergency c-section.
I'm extra paranoid about that now. Last time I asked the nurse to check with the sonogram as soon as I got to the hospital because I didn't want to go through unnecessary labor again!
I'm glad your sweet baby is head down! It will be fun to see how much hair he has when he comes!
