So today I had my 38 week appointment. I was measuring a bit small so the NP sent me to the hospital for an ultrasound to check the fluid levels. There it was discovered that Rylie was head up. Looks like I'll be having a scheduled c-section. Apparently she's been like that for a while...I have been feeling this round thing pushing out up near my belly button for quite some time and always thought it was her butt, but it's her head!

I'm not upset about having a c-section to be honest. If anything I'm glad they caught it because the OB, Midwife, and NP thought she was head down. Hell I thought she was head down too because when she hiccups I've been feeling it down low.

I think I'm more upset by the fact that I won't get the awesome birth photography I wanted. We'll of course get pictures before and after, but that's about it.

Once I know more on Monday I'll update here.

My first was breech too. I think having a planned c-section is better than laboring for a while then having one. At least that's what I heard. It's really not so bad. Read up on it so you know exactly what to expect.

Think of it this way, she'll have a beautifully shaped head for all of the pictures. Good luck and I'm glad they caught it. The same thing happened to my best friend in December. They thought her son was head down and then discovered he was breech.

LOL I did laugh to myself about that. She won't have a cone head at all.

Aww well it's a bummer you don't get to have a vaginal birth. But like Amy said atleast they caught it in time that way you didn't have labor for hours and then realize it and have to have an emergency one. Plus a planned one gives you an exact day to when you get to have the baby!

I'm glad they caught it! A girl in my birthing class ended up having a c-section after 24 hours of labor, then starting to push and the midwife saw a butt instead of a head. I think that would just be horrible!! That's why we got an U/S even though my midwife was sure he is head down. I wanted to be POSITIVE!

Let us know when you get your date!
