Hey everyone! I just have a question...since it's been awhile since having a newborn. We took Corie to the doctor this morning and she weighs 7 lbs and 3 oz. She will be 3 weeks old tomorrow. But the doctor seemed a bit concerned about her weight...and her not gaining fast enough and told me to try to feed her more. When we left the hospital she was 6 lbs 12 oz. ....now she is 7 lbs 3 oz I think she is gaining at a good rate though...so I just wanted your all's advice. She is eating 2 oz every 3-4 hours...she isn't much of an eater like my other kids were and sometimes don't even eat all her bottle..she falls asleep or just let's its run out the side of her mouth...so advice needed please!

Have you tried waking her, getting her naked and or stimulating her awake and getting her to eat a bit more like 3 oz instead of 2 per feeding? My little one wouldn't eat much so the nurses told us to take her clothes off to "stimulate" her so she doesn't fall asleep mid feed.

When I went to see a lactation consultant at 4 days she said he should be eating 2.5 oz, so I'd think she should probably be getting more. Cooper went from 8lbs 10oz at birth to 9lbs 4oz at one week but this guy eats like crazy.

Tanner left the hospital at 7lbs 13oz and was 8lbs 5oz 3 days later. I am not sure how much they are suppose to gain but my ped said he just wanted to see the number going up. I am sure she is okay but I would do what the other ladies suggested!

She's up to 3 oz every 3 hours... she goes back to the doctor Friday to get weighed and checked! We will see how it goes!

So, getting her mad is working? I remember DD1 had to be fed every 3 hours around the clock and I was BF'ing. It's exhausting! Hopefully all your hard work pays off at her checkup on Friday.

Well she does pretty good for the first ounce and a half and then I have to take her shirt off.. or pull the bottle in and out of her mouth...burp her until she wakes up lol..and then she'll take the rest.

Sometimes I would have to take a baby wipe and lightly rub it over my kid's shoulders once or twice. That definitely got her attention.

Jackson does 3 1/2 ounces every 3 hours. he has a tendency to fall asleep when he eats too, so I usually wait and do his diaper change 1/2 way through his bottle and it gets him awake enough to finish.
