Looks like we are going to be investing in a new washer and dryer set. I have been scared of my dryer starting on fire for a few months now as it seems to be getting pretty hot on the outside. Not to mention the moisture sensor has went out on it and there has been a few times that it has just turned itself off (I think that is related to it getting so hot). Now my washer is only spinning during the spin cycle about half the time. The washer has already been fixed 3 times, so we don't think it is worth fixing again.

Does anyone have any recommendations for washers and dryers they like or warnings for washers and dryers they don't like. Whatever we get is going to have to go through a lot of use as we was a lot of clothes that are dirtier than most where DH farms and ranches. Any thoughts on front load versus top load. Thoughts on different brands?

I have a hotpoint super capacity washer and the matching dryer. I <3 them!! I just bought them this summer so I can't say anything about the durability of them, but they're quiet and fit my king sized quilt no problem. The agitator isn't super strong (which is easier on my clothes) so sometimes if I forget and put the powder detergent in after the clothes, it doesn't all dissolve, but overall I'd give it at least 4 stars! (ditto to the dryer)
