They come in, they go onto dh's desk until they are paid and then when he pays them he puts them on my desk. I scan them into the computer and put them into our financial records on our server, and then we recycle the paper copies.
When I go through the mail I write the due date on the envelope and then they get stacked from soonest due (on top) to latest due (on bottom) on a small shelf directly above our office computer. I pay the bills once a week (trying to stay about 1 week ahead of the due dates). Once paid, I staple the check stub (we print ours on the computer) to the bill and immediately file them in their spot in the filing cabinet.
If it is a bill that DH has to pay, I will tell him about it and place it on the keyboard of the computer so that it is out where he can see it and be reminded that he has to pay it. He then sets the stapled check stub and bill on the desk where I file it when I clean the office on Tuesdays.
I put all of the bills in a red folder in the desk. Then every payday I pull them out and write the dates on the envelope. Then I sort them by due date and pay them in that order until there isn't anything left toward bills. The rest goes for toward the next payday. My hubby doesn't have to do any of it so I guess he lucked out there.

they just get placed in a basket. I am looking for another and better organzied thingy though. I just pay them by due date. I pay whatever bills I can pay online. I always write a check for the van payment and house payment
