for your general housekeeping? That is, do you, say, do laundry on Fridays, clean bathrooms on Tuesdays, clean floors on Mondays, etc. or do you just go with the flow and do things as you notice them? I have been doing the latter, but I'm finding I get distracted and don't finish things as quickly a I would like to. I know some people have 'schedules' for themselves and while I hate making schedules, I can stick to them fairly easily.

So how do you do it? If you're a scheduler, how would you start putting one together?

I have a cleaning schedule. I used to just clean whatever whenever, but found myself cleaning the same areas and leaving others for months. With the schedule I know that everything is getting cleaned every week.

Im so glad I found this board. Ive been on this site for a few years and havent seen it til now. We just bought a house and trying to get a schedule going so it doesnt become a one long day event.

Welcome to the board AprylLynn!!! So nice to have you join us!!

I'm Kelsey, wife to Jason and mommy to Kendra (5 years) and Josh (2 years). I'd like to apologize that the board is a little slow right now. I have been absent quite a bit where we are having internet issues (which are still not fixed). I've been trying to get on when I can or when I have enough time. Hopefully our internet will be fixed soon and I can get the board moving again.

I made up my own schedule by dividing my house into 7 areas. I then made up a list of things that needed done in each area and work on 1 area each day. Right now I have: Monday - Kitchen, Dining room and Living room; Tuesday - Office (this includes any office work); Wednesday - Den, Sitting room and Stairs; Thursday - Bathrooms and Mud room; Friday - Craft room and Exercise room; Saturday - Bedrooms; Sunday - Tidy up storage room (this is my easy day). I printed off a to-do list for each area and keep them in page protectors in a 3 ring binder. This way I can mark them off with a dry erase marker as I get things done and am able to erase it and use it again.

I don't have a schedule. Things would go more smoothly if I did as far as getting things done.

I do my laundry on mondays. Wash fold and put away because otherwise it just ends up laying there and I don't get around to it. I do 1 load of jeans/dh's work clothes/towels a day still that I hang to dry and if I don't get that put away during the week then monday is the day. I also tidy the house and make a meal plan.
Tuesday is my crock pot/grocery/running around day. And either thurday or friday (depends on what's all going on) is my bathroom and floor day. The other stuff gets done whenever, it's hard to say from week to week.

I guess this is why my windows never get done

I don't have a definte schedule. But I do light cleaning once a week usually sunday mornings, food shop saturday afternoon and pay bills saturday mornings. Do laundry every night. When I have a free day I usually rip a room apart and clean in top to bottom which happens once a year lol.

Yes I have a schedule. Most weeks I follow it but sometikes it's very difficult. I start with one side of my house and work my way around. Mine looks like this:

Monday: Clean my son's room, 2nd bathroom and office (vacuum, dust, mop, clean counters and toilet)
Tuesday: Living room (sweep, mop and dust)
Wednesday: Kitchen and dining room (sweep, mop, clean counters, vacuum)
Thursday: Our bedroom (vacuum and dust)
Friday: Our bathroom (vacuum, clean counters and toilet)

I do dishes daily and try to do 1 load of laundry per day from start to finish. I also declutter whatever is needed daily.
