Does anyone have any healthy eating tips they'd like to share with the rest of us? It doesn't have to be groundbreaking- just something your family already does.

I'll start...

Include protein in snacks.
I really started paying attention to my snacking last pregnancy and realized it was mostly just carbs, which are easy to overeat, and leave you wanting more. But once you start trying to add more protein it is actually pretty easy and helps to keep you fuller and more satisfied between meals.

Some easy examples are crackers with cheese or peanut butter, apple with peanut butter, fruit with yogurt, cottage cheese and veggie sticks, pita and hummus, etc.

Water...lots and lots of water. I drink on average 96 oz per day. I carry around a 32 oz cup and fill it about 3x/day. That was one of my biggest tips for losing weight too. I don't drink pop at all either.

Totally agree! It's amazing how many empty calories are in prepared drinks- water's totally the way to go! We also don't keep pop in the house, although if we go out I might have a gingerale or punch as a treat.

our main drink is water, a 12 pack of soda will last over a month in our house, soda is a treat.

we do not eat fast food other than subs, or if I get the occassional craving for McDonald's breakfast sandwich (naughty!!)

I try to cook most of our meals at home

I substitute turkey and chicken in place of beef or red meat when possible (chicken tacos are amazing!)

I keep bananas, apples and other fresh fruit on hand

yogurt and granola are amazing!

Greek yogurt is the best thing ever invented. I eat it for dips, for subbing in baking, for making killer fluffy scrambled eggs, in smoothies, and as a sour cream substitute on potatoes or tacos. I love that I can put a ton of yogurt on my taco without even a bit of guilt.

I keep fancy super dark chocolate as a treat. Mmm...and peanut butter.

Mostly we just try to eat clean, whole unprocessed food without going crazy. I mean...I love some sausage gravy and biscuits. Lol.
