I really want this to be a popular sub-forum, so I'm just going to keep posting!

I truly have been handed down the best hummus recipe and feel I must share. It's my mom's recipe, and I'm unsure where she got it from or if it's her own creation. I enjoy it best with rice crackers, but of course there are a million uses for it! This was also one of my son's first foods, and he still loves it to this day. It's an awesome way to get some protein in and to introduce the little ones to some big flavours!

Ingredients
1 19ounce can of chickpeas
1/3 C tahini
2 T fresh lime juice
2 T chopped cilantro (can be omitted or swapped with basil for a more pesto flavour)
2 garlic cloves (or less if you prefer)
1 T balsamic vinegar
1 T olive oil
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp white sugar
1/4 C broth (I usually just use the liquid from the can)
*1/4 tsp ground cayenne (optional)

Directions
Throw everything into a blender (high-powered one like a vitamix works best) and blend until smooth. It will thicken more during refrigeration. Enjoy!

I love hummus, but have never made my own. I may have to try this!

Both of my boys like hummus too. I usually use pretzel sticks to dip.

My problem with making hummus is I'm not sure where to get tahini. Where do you get that?

I buy it at my regular grocery store (Safeway, Save-on, Thrifty's... here in Canada). The difficulty is finding where they keep it! It comes in a jar, and is either in the same isle as peanut butter and other nut butters, the health food section, or in the deli section. When in doubt I ask a clerk!

Hope you can find it! It's so worth it!

So instead of the broth, do you just use the liquid from the chickpea can?

I work at a grocery store, I'm going to go look for tahini now!

I pretty much always use the liquid from the can since I often don't have broth on hand. Not all of it though, about 1/4 cup's worth. Hope you like it!
