I've been thinking about switching to gluten free (I've noticed that my stools are a bit....mucous-y and think I may have a slight allergy to gluten, even before getting pregnant) and am wondering if there is anyone on here who is gluten free. Is it ok to switch to gluten free during a pregnancy?? I would assume yes, but you never know.

I am gluten free among other things Cutting out gluten is not a bad thing to do even while pregnant. All you will be doing if you have a sensitivity is allowing your gut and body heal. Part of gluten intolerance or sensitivity is a problem properly absorbing nutrients so if you feel gluten is a problem for you then cutting it out will most likely allow for you and baby to get even more good stuff Just realize it takes 2 weeks for the effects of gluten to leave your body so if you cut it out, and then maybe have a "cheat" it can affect you for 2 weeks.

If you decide to cut it out then good luck and I am here if you need anything.

Jenn

Thanks Jenn.

Just recently took the steps to go gluten free and I must say, so far so good. We have a natural foods store in town (albeit small) and they helped me get some stuff that was gluten free (soy sauce, rice pasta, cookie mix, gf flour, etc). It's gonna be a lot easier than I thought.

I know what you mean, anything dessert is like.....super evil. I ended up going out and buying some gluten free chocolate chip cookies yesterday and indulged in quite a few of them.

Do you have a natural foods/whole foods/trader joes in your area? There are actually A LOT of things that are Gluten Free that you may not realize is Gluten Free. I've actually gone a TON of googling and it surprised me how many items I already ate are GF.
