Normally you don't have betas drawn unless you've had a loss before or are using medical assistance (I had mine drawn because I did IVF, while my last pregnancy didn't have them drawn). If you want it earlier it doesn't hurt to ask.

I only had betas drawn because of a previous loss. Otherwise they wouldn't see me until I was 10-12 weeks along. If you want them done you could always ask, but I think it is perfectly normal to not have them done.

My first OB wouldn't even see me until I was at least 12 weeks because the risk for miscarriage is so great in the first trimester. My current midwife won't see me until I'm 8 weeks. I have an appointment with a nurse at 7 weeks to confirm the pregnancy and probably set up bloodwork. It's completely normal to not have an appointment until later.

I see the nurse on the 27th to get bloodwork and all that fun jazz done and the doctor sept 12th. Only reason I'm seeing him "early" is that I don't know if I'm 1-2 months.

Last pregnancy I didn't see the nurse til 13w and the doctor til 15w.

With this being your first pregnancy and not being assisted theres no reason to assume you will need to be seen prior to end of first trimester

I have an appointment for an ultrasound set on Aug. 14 (at six weeks) because my last pregnancy resulted in a 32 week baby with IUGR. Last pregnancy I had, I was close to the second trimester before I saw a doc.

I was thinking the same thing! Since I found out so early I'm more afraid something will go wrong!

I found out on Friday. I'm calling the dr on Monday to see what they think ... although my BFP got darker when testing tonight so I'm assuming that's a good sign :-)

I probably wont have an appointment until around then at least too it sucks but there really isn't much they can do too early other than confirm prengnacy. I am hoping for an early u/s to better date pregnancy but that will likely be around 9/10 weeks ugh!
