Who has had one? Who is planning on one? What did you think? I'd really love to have that experience. DH is super nervous about it because he's afraid of what if something goes wrong. We live 6 miles from 2 hospitals so I'm not too worried. We are going to meet with a midwife who does only home births and has been doing them longer than I've been alive. I'm a nurse so I trust in that model a little more than DH does and I've seen all too many hospital births be forced to have a csection unnecessarily. I also wasn't too fond of the other OB in my current practice and who knows which one will be on call the night I go in to labor.

I'm planning one! Very excited too! I interviewed one midwife already and liked her and will interview at least one more before I make my decision. My first was a typical hospital birth where you are left to suffer in a tiny room where you are visited once and hour or 2. Sucked so bad, can't wait to have a birth where I have a support/ cheering team.

I would absolutely love one but its just not possible for our family right now. Both insurance/money wise and I had pre-eclampsia with my daughter that makes me higher risk to have something like that again. My son quit breathing when he was born and I just am too much of a worry wart to be 30-40 miles to the nearest hospital w/ all of the surrounding fators.

I had one with my last daughter (well, it was really at my midwife's house, but still a home birth). I had a hospital birth with a CNM with my first, and that one was great also...everyone followed our birth plan and I go to labor in a tub.

Not sure about this one yet...to have a home birth, we have to drive 3.5 hours to a midwife's house (but I have to do that to go to a hospital that is in network anyway)...really not sure what to do.

I've had 5. They've been wonderful experiences for me. Hoping for a 6th!
