So I wanted to paint my toe nails tonight since it's been a few weeks.
Of course, I googled it and most websites said nail polish remover and MOST nail polishes were safe. I used the nail polish remover quickly and did it in front of a fan so I didn't breathe a lot in ... same with when I painted my nails. I'm going to buy some "pregnancy" safe nail polish on Amazon for future use.
However, now I'm all nervous that this is going to cause harm to my growing baby.
Anyone know anything about nail polish? My step-sister-in-law works in a nail salon and does manicures all day and had a m/c at 7 weeks - and she thinks it's because of the environment she worked in with all the fumes & I have to agree.
I got several pedicures with my last pregnancy and was fine, I don't think there is any real danger in painting your nails every few weeks. I can see how maybe it can be an issue if you are breathing that stuff all day long though.
It's more an issue for people who work in that environment and are around the fumes all day. Spending an hour in a salon every couple of weeks or once a month should not result in any troubles for you or the baby.

I painted my nails every couple of days while preggo with DD, she's beyond healthy. Im pretty sure the cause of concern is not for the occasional fumes but someone who is exposed for hours on end(especially since I doubt its good for a regular adlt)

Yeah I felt so bad for her, she m/c at 7wks and not until recently did we start to wonder if it was because she is a manicurist at a salon. She's only P/T but 4 days a week at 8 hour shifts in those fumes cannot be good for anyone :-(
I'm now worried about lotions and perfumes and make-up! Who knew all the stuff could possibly be bad?
What perfume/lotions are safe? I love shea butter but it has dimitecone in it which, from what I read, is possibly not safe.
