(I just C&P'd this from the TTC board- sorry for the duplicate for gals that saw it over there!)
So I've been taking more tests to make sure things were going in the darker direction before telling DH. After yesterday morning's lovely Answer BFP I decided to go through with telling him at dinner. (This is either 11 or 12 DPO.)
I made a 4 cheese lasagna and a 4 bean salad for dinner, though I didn't bother telling DH that because I knew he wouldn't get it right away and I wanted to wait until dessert. I had made a small batch of petit fours (yellow sponge cake, blackberry jam and lemon curd- yum!) and decorated 4 of them with a number.
After dinner, I got the container and put it on the table, with the lid on. I asked if he enjoyed his 4 cheese lasagna and 4 bean salad, which he said yes and looked a little confused about all the "4"s. I then handed out the cakes- I said, "Daddy, you get #1 because you're the oldest. Then Mama will get #2, and James is the youngest so he gets #3." (DH is looking a little perplexed by all of this, but just going with the flow since he's used to me doing odd things now and again.)
I then said "And this little cake (#4), I'll just hold on to this one for around 9 months," and smiled. His eyes got wide and he said "Oh! Yeah?!" Then he came around and gave me a big hug and kiss. (He then alternated between looks of happiness and vague distress- you know, standard for the announcement of a new baby!)
