So, yesterday was my 12-week appointment. I met with a different midwife. Even since I had my daughter just over a year ago, they have changed the way the practice works. The midwife that I used last year, and really wanted again, is only working in the hospital for deliveries now. Boo! Anyhow, this one was okay, but she won't be my first choice. She proceeded to tell me that my husband definitely needed to get fixed this time, but then she followed that a little later with saying how it wasn't really anyone else's business how many kids we have. Interesting...

Anyhow, my blood pressure was great, and the LNA told me that they will only do urine tests once in the 1st trimester, once in the 2nd, and once in the 3rd. What a change (and one I'm thrilled about). I got to hear the heartbeat, which was really all I wanted. She said it sounded strong and even, and she told me it was 164.

I feel like now that I've actually heard it and not just seen it, I can start to get excited! It's all becoming more real.

Also, my sister had her 12-week check-up yesterday, too, and they moved her due date to the 7th. Her baby's rate was between 160-167. All around, a good day for both of us!!

I am so Happy that you had a excellent appointment!!! My Dr. that delivered both of my sons is not at the practice anymore and it sucks! I know how you feel having to get to know a new Dr./midwife. It stinks.

Yep, pretty much. I had a couple different midwives I saw last time, but I had one primary one who was my favorite, and then all of the sudden, in the last 2 weeks because of some scheduling issues and then my high blood pressure, I got whisked off to OB. I finally got to see MY midwife on my 3rd day in the hospital, and she said, "What the heck happened??"

I had never met this one before. Really, she seemed nice enough, and I don't think that she even realized what she was saying. However, I'm contemplating whether I want to keep trying out different midwives in the practice, or choose one of the OB's who I also feel comfortable with (and that I worked with at the end of my last pregnancy and during delivery). The one I met with the other day and the one I meet with next time (who I've also never met) are the only 2 who now work both in the office and at the hospital. I guess I'll see how my meetings with them go. I also liked the midwife I met with on the 1st visit at 8 weeks so I may try to schedule with her, even though I know she wouldn't be delivering me. Choices, choices, choices
