I haven't had a bowel movement for a week. Last night right at 10 after taking suppositories for 4 days in a row, my bowels finally started moving. I was in sooo much pain that I was puking my guts out. By 5 am I was puking acids and blood (all that was left) and that is what made me decide to go to the ER. I got there, they put an IV, gave me Zofran another suppository and they did blood work to verify my pregnancy. But they advised me that since I never bleed or strained myself that the baby was absolutely fine and that I wasn't dehydrated enough to be concerned about the baby either. So, they send me back home with a prescription for Zofran and more constipation medicine. They told me that my pregnancy levels were very high too. Oh, the joys of pregnancy!
that sounds like my last pregnancy! I was so constipated before i even found out i was pregnant that i had to go to the ER. I ended up eating a fresh pear every day and it helped a lot. I ate it first thing in the morning and drank water. Maybe try that? The best thing to do is find something to make you somewhat regular. Try a stool softener maybe? Those are safe to take when you need them, you can even use them everyday. Good luck and i hope you feel better fast!!
Not fun. Hope you are feeling better soon. Constipation is very painful and I think even more so with pregnancy. Eating plums seems to work for me, but I do take Colace now and again when needed. It's safe for pregnancy.
I am taking Peri-Collace and Metamucil (3x a day), and a glycerin suppository each night. Once I get it all under control, I think I am just keeping with the Metamucil. This is what has been approved by my Doc and the ER.
