So I am not one of those who goes to the hospital right when something hurts... I ALMOST DID TONIGHT!

Lets just say around 5 pm i started getting this stomach pain, in my upper tummy area and a little while went by and it just kept getting worse and worse hurt to breath hurt to move hurt to stand hurt to sit it was something i have NEVER felt before, I knew baby was ok because I could feel her moving around, i tried laying on my belly (which is what my dad taught me a long time ago when my belly hurts) that didn't work, i decided to go to the bathroom and see if maybe i had to puke... well i did but it was not much and it didn't give me much relief only for a like 5 min then it came back again full force, so i tried seeing if i needed to puke some more which i did a little (embarrassing but i wet myself LOL) after that I tried to use some pepto that worked for all of a min and then i puked that up, the puke was more like acidic, i tried putting pressure on that spot on my belly (right under my sternum spot) nothing was working so i got in the shower put hot water on it it was working a little except i was feeling light headed (probably from heaving and the steam from the shower) so i got out and it would NOT go away! If I sat and concentrated on my breathing (the pain was making me breath fast short breaths which was making it hurt more) If I just concentrated and took slow breaths it hurt but not as bad so I decided to lay down for a little bit I lied on my right side (only side that didn't hurt so bad, I told DH that if it did not stop or got worse I would need to go to the ER) I closed my eyes it hurt like hell so after about an hour I sat up but leaned back on my prego pillow and 10 min passed and randomly it left not slowly just bam gone i have not wanted to move since scared it would come back! Baby has been moving the whole time so I am not worried about her, I am thinking something I ate either got stuck inside me (IDK) or it was Acid or baby was on something i have NO clue but I feel much better!

In my opinion, it sounds EXACTLY like gallbladder pain. I'd call your doc tomorrow morning and get in for an appointment to have your Lipase, Amylase, and liver function tests drawn to make sure those are all normal. Gallbladder pain was way worse than labor pain for me. NOTHING helped the pain until it went away on it's own.. I tried laying upside down, sideways, jumping, puking, rubbing the area, NADA. Did you happen to eat anything fatty/greasy before the pain came on?

The pain was intense and I actually told my doctor if he gave me a scalpel I could show him exactly where it hurt. I felt like I could cut it out and feel better. If that makes sense? Unfortunately if it is gallbladder.. it only gets worse, not better.

Sounds like it could possibly be your gall bladder, which can be a common issue in pregnancy. I have had gall stones with this pregnancy and the pain is ridiculously intense. Every time I've had an attack I vomited during it. I would definitely mention it to your OB, if it is something that continues to happen you may need to go in and get checked. My OB said they don't usually do surgery for gall bladders during pregnancy (unless it's REALLY bad) and so they would just give me fluids to stop dehydration from the vomiting and some painkillers if I went in when I had an attack. I started trying to watch what I eat more closely and I still cheat a bit and will eat foods I probably shouldn't, but I have been good since.

We have a friend from church who has had gall bladder issues for a while and actually they went to do an ultrasound on his gall bladder and found out he had kidney cancer and had to have a kidney removed! But anyways he told me that drinking the Mott's Apple juice/cider that comes in the brown bottle helps soften the stones b/c of the pectin in it and so if you have an attack it won't be as painful.

Also don't do the Pepto if it happens again, it's a no-no during pregnancy!

Pretty safe to say I'd rather die than ever have another gallbladder attack. Mine was so bad I had severe pancreatitis and it bought me a week in the hospital even after emergency surgery.

I work for a general surgeon that takes out gallbladders. He will not do surgery on pregnant women unless its a total emergency. Try and stay away from greasy, fried food, dairy and lettuce until u see ur doc. They are the foods that will let off gallbladder attacks.

Yup - I made a thread a few weeks ago called "Pepto?" because I drank a 1/2 dose when I was really nauseous ...

http://www.justmommies.com/forums/f1...879-pepto.html

Def a no-no during pregnancy ESPECIALLY in the 3rd tri. I called my OB about it & was told that one dose isn't a big deal and just not to do it again.

Def sounds like either severe acid or gallbladder. I would def mention it to your doc.

Yeah, I was not thinking when I took it either. Glad I didn't take much, and found out right away not to take it again.

I was going to say what the others said - definitely sounds like gall bladder to me. Check with your OB. It's very common for women in pregnancy because everything internally is shifted. When I get mine, the pain is so bad, it can literally take my breath away. Often it starts as what I think is back pain on my right side, but then it ends up radiating to right under my ribs. I used to take Tums, Zantac, whatever I could because I thought it was heartburn, and nothing made it go away. Sometimes pressure helps, or passing gas, but it's usually temporary relief. I was actually going through the process to have mine removed when I got pregnant. Every ultrasound they have done of it is completely normal, but the specialist is nearly certain that's what it is. They want to do a CT scan, but I'm allergic to the dye so we have to find a way around it.

Anyhow, they typically won't do anything while you're pregnant as the risks are often too great. I am one of the oddballs, though, whose symptoms actually improve while pregnant. When I am not pregnant, I typically have 1-2 attacks a month. They can last from a couple of hours to 2 days or so. While pregnant, I generally have 2-3 attacks the entire pregnancy.

Hope you feel better soon!!!
