It varies, depending on the doctor and how the pregnancy is going. I think my OB normally starts weekly visits and cervical checks at 37-38 weeks, depending on what is going on.

My midwife won't check unless I ask her to. I'm going to try to avoid all checks, unless labor ends up being long and I'll NEED to know where I am lol.

For me, weekly appts will start at 36 weeks. I can't remember for sure from last time, but I think they only checked my cervix once, maybe when they did the GBS, since they were already in the area.

My weekly appointments don't start until I am actually 39 or 40 weeks. Last time I didn't get checked until I was in active labor. I think the only time I was actually required to get checked is when I felt the urge to push to make sure I was 10 cm.

If you wanted to get checked earlier for some reason I bet that you could ask for that.

I know for me the weekly appointments start at 36 weeks. I'm not sure about when they check the cervix though, I was wondering that myself since a bunch of people keep asking me if I've dilated at all.

Which is another thing... why the heck do so many people find it ok to ask about about my cervix? Family... co-workers... STRANGERS!?? Its weird..

I'm not sure when the Dr I have now will check, but my previous Dr would start at 36 and when he did the GroupB swab.

I was however checked at 26weeks after that scary bleeding episode I had. It was still closed at that point (thank goodness).

It depends on the doctor/midwife. Last time, I believe I was checked at the same time as the group B strep test. I may have been checked one other time after that because of my high blood pressure, but I really don't remember.

I don't really care how far I'm dilted because it doesn't really mean much to me. Lot of women walk around at 3-4 for weeks and weeks, and others (like me) won't be dilated at all and still have their water break that night or the next day. And I'd rather have as few hands as possible up there.

As for weekly appointments, I don't start those this time until after I'm past my due date, unless there was a medical reason to be seen more often. That's a change even from my last one, where I was checked every week from 36 weeks on.

I started being checked at 32 weeks because of all the contractions I was having. I will be checked again this Friday because I have been having more painful contractions over the past 2 weeks. I will also start having weekly appts after this week, so my weekly appts start around 35 weeks.

Have no idea when doc will start checking for dilation, but I start my weekly appoints at 36 weeks. With the schedule I'm on now that means I have an appointment next week(34) then one 2 weeks later(36) and then every week until baby comes.

35-36 weeks for weekly with my doc. Checks at 37 or if I have been experiencing anything that would make them curious.

So...I guess actually weekly visits will start at 36 weeks for me. And I looked back and it was the same last time also. I still think cervical checks didn't start happening until 37 or 38 weeks.
