no matter how much chapstick I put on during the day & before bed ... my lips are constantly dry and chapped ... so bad that I'm getting dry skin on the corners of my mouth (and it hurts!)

Any suggestions for getting rid of this dryness?!

I have the exact same thing, it is horrible! My lips bleed and my the corner hurts so bad to open because it's so dry. I've found that if I put Hemp chap stick from The Body Shop on my lips all day it helps, but I often don't have it on hand when I need it. I hope some one has some good suggestions because I need help also!

I'm in the same boat...partially because of the dry air, and partially becasue my nose has been perpetually congested, and I've been mouth-breathing more. I use chapstick throughout the day, and at home I use coconut oil and/or vaseline. I keep the vaseline right by my bed for during the night. Nothing really helps, though...not long term.

I've been using Aquaphor & it helps a lot. I put it on before bed & can still feel it in the morning. When I was sick a few weeks ago, I was dehydrated, plus mouth-breathing from congestion. My lips were a mess, but the Aquaphor helped! I bought a bug tub of it & use it all over. This is the first winter that I haven't had bleeding, cracked knuckles.

I find that when my lips are really messed up, any of the commercial in a tube things like Chapstick often make it worse. They are supposed to be gentle, but if the lips are a disaster, you can't win.

I swear by Vaseline/ petroleum jelly. I've used it on my lips overnight since I was a kid. I sometimes have to reapply midnight if I've been particularly mouth-breathy or drooly, but my lips are rarely if ever cracked or sore. We have tubs all over the house for everyone. DH uses it on his face after shaving to keep hydrated, we put it on my son's lips all the time to keep him from picking, I put it on my hands and lips... and it's CHEAP!

chapstick is fine for prevention, not for treatment. If you want your chapped lips cured overnight.. try carmex. It's a miracle treatment honestly.

Vaseline works good around our house. Maybe up the water intake, I tend to have more chapped lips when I haven't been drinking gallons...
