I am 34 weeks today. If someone asked how far I was (and didn't understand weeks) I'd say "I'm halfway through my 8th month." At 36 weeks, I'll say "I'm a full 8 months pregnant- starting my 9th month and the homestretch!" At 37+ weeks, I'd say "I'm 9 months pregnant with X days until my due date."
It's so confusing! I much prefer talking to people who comprehend weeks!
I would say I'm 9 months at 40 weeks. The weeks and months don't necessarily equate because almost every month has more than 28 days in it so you can't really go by 4 weeks being a month. Right now I tell people I am 8 months (basically I figure that I have a month to go before my due date so if that's 9 months, then I'm 1 month less).
I back it up from my due date...so a month before my due date, I'd say I was 8 months pregnant. It's all so confusing! But if I say 9 months at 36 weeks, people start thinking the baby should be here any minute. I don't like it when I get asked how many months pregnant I am.
I would say 9 months pregnant at 36 weeks b/c I feel like you still technically have the entire 9th month to count even if you say it that way. Usually though when people ask and I don't think they'll understand if I tell them how many weeks I am I will just say "I have 4 weeks left." or "I'm due Apr. 8th" and then they usually say "ohh anytime now!" lol.
I never answer the month question. My MIL used to drive me bonkers when I was pregnant with my son. She could not comprehend they had changed something in 30 plus years : / I always say I am X weeks or if they push the month question I say I have x weeks left. I think counting weeks is easier because it goes by faster ; )
I wonder this myself. A lot of people don't realize that pregnancy goes for 40 weeks and I'm not in the mood to explain it to everyone. I just tell them my estimated due date if they ask how far along I am
