So ever since my hospital stay at 31 weeks (6 weeks ago) I have had nitrates in my urine. Even with the two night in l&d they couldn't actually find the infection, so they sent me home without antibiotics. I was lucky and saw the same doctor twice after that visit, so he didn't do anything about the nitrates showing up in the simple urine test at the office, but today I saw the one dr that i hadn't met yet, and she wants to go through all the steps...
so I had to do another clean catch, after the dixi cup strip quick thing, and they sent it away for a culture. It is just so frustrating. Im glad I at least pushed for not taking the antibiotics immediately, and waiting for them to actually find something!
oh and by strep b came back negative, so thats good, and im now officially 2cm dilated, and still 80% effaced, so making progress!
I know when I had my UTI in November, they said my nitrate level was through the roof, and I did end up with antibiotics. What was their reason for not prescribing them this time? Sorry you had to go through with all the testing, though. What a pain!!
Good news on the Strep B, and on your progress!!

I would not mind taking the antibiotics, but 6 weeks ago when the nitrates popped up, they couldn't actually find an infection! I spent two nights in the hospital, did tons of blood and urine tests, and they couldn't find a thing! The Dr. that saw me in the hospital has let the nitrates pass ever since, because he realized that there was probably nothing, its just going through it again with a new dr that is annoying.
