I think there a couple of nurses here or maybe ladies with babies born on a holiday? If your baby is born on a holiday, like St Patties or Easter, Christmas etc.. Does the hospital do anything festive for the baby? It was a random thought

I haven't heard of anything around here, except for the first baby of the new year. They normally get some gift baskets, diapers and we have a small business that donates a scholarship.

My oldest was born just a couple hours before Thanksgiving. They didn't do anything festive, but maybe they would have if he had been born a couple hours later. But I doubt it. They brought me a hamburger for dinner on Thanksgiving, even though they had turkey dinner in the cafeteria, so I don't think they were a particularly festive staff. But I bet some hospitals would do something special. I know there is a hospital near me that does cute stockings for all the babies born around Christmas. And they do pictures with the baby swaddled in the stocking.

I think our hospital does something for babies that are born on/ around Christmas. I am not sure they do anything for other holidays.

My 3rd was born on New Year's Day, but she wasn't the first baby that day so we got nothing festive. We just tell her that at least she will always be off work/school on her birthday!

I'm guessing it would really depend on that particular hospital/unit. Unfortunately, for most of us in healthcare, holidays can be just another day. BUT...one of the units I work with (not a L&D unit) goes ALL OUT for holidays. Seriously, it is over the top with festivities. They really try to make their patients feel special.

My oldest was born on Cinco de Mayo (I guess typically not an American holiday)....but living in Texas it's celebrated They didn't do anything for him. It was perfect that he was born on May 5th because I ate Mexican food literally the whole time I was pregnant with him! We always celebrate with TexMex for his b-day.

Lurking from May

My son was born on Christmas 2005. The hospital that I delivered at gave stockings filled with baby stuff. They made a special sign that had his name and birth info on it.

My son was born on Mothers day and one of the local policeman came in and gave me a car seat. of course they also took photos of me a few hours after giving birth to use in hospital newsletter which I can say I wasn't too excited about! Lol

First of all, that's messed up you didn't get a thanksgiving meal!
Second of all, I am now hungry for a hospital hamburger.... Wth?! LOL

And lol at the cinco de mayo thing. We don't celebrate it here in my part of Texas, but maybe I'm a bit too far north of Mexico lol

We do stockings for Christmas babies and have red and white striped hats instead of the pink/white or blue/white ones. We always have leftover hats so we also use them at Valentine's day. Other than that... not much!
