Its been something I kept meaning to do, and kept putting off.

I can't believe I'm actually intending on doing a natural childbirth. I'm terrified of the idea. Thats something I've been working on over the past few days. Trying to release that fear. I know it can hold me back and hold labor up if I'm scared of it. Ugh -.- So far, not working. So I hoped if I compiled my songlist and started using it now to sort of zone out and relax it might help me when the time comes. Does that make sense? Or am I just crazy?

In no particular order (in case anyone's interested):

B!tch - Meredith Brooks
Come a Little Closer - Dierks Bentley
Creep - TLC
Don't Wanna Lose You Now - BSB
Hips Don't Lie - Shakira
I Need You Tonight - BSB
Jesus Take the Wheel - Carrie Underwood
Just Like a Pill - Pink
Mouth - Merril Bainbridge
Nice and Slow - Usher
Incomplete - BSB
Ol' Red - Blake Shelton
Ring of Fire - Johnny Cash
Something 'bout a Truck - Kip Moore
No One Else Comes Close - BSB
Something to Talk About - Bonnie Raitt
Two Black Cadillacs - Carrie Underwood
Underneath Your Clothes - Shakira
Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely - BSB
Waterfalls - TLC
You Make Me Sick - Pink
You Make Me Wanna - USher
Back to Your Heart - BSB

lol not my choice of music but whatever helps you to relax
As for being scared of labor, surround yourself with positive energy, don't let people tell you their horror stories etc. There are some really nice videos on youtube (a lot of crap too lol) There is a pretty good group on facebook if you'd like I can add you. Feel free to pm me if you just want to chat about it too.

I have a cd that I have been relaxing to for months. As soon I turn it on, my body's and my mind's response is to instantly relax. Definitely helps!

Each of those songs were chosen for a very specific reason -3 of them because they *always* put me in a good mood when listening to them. The other 22 - because I can completely zone out when listening to them and I can listen to them overandoverandoverandover.

The facegroup book (I was going to retype this, but it made me giggle, so I'm leaving it as is) sounds interesting, thanks!

You've got quite a wide selection of music! I've heard that it really works well for some people so I certainly hope it has its desired effect for you!

I remember with my first that I made two CDs of music I thought I wanted to hear during labor. But then, when it came down to it, I just wanted silence while I was in labor. I didn't mind people talking, but I didn't want any music or noise from the TV. Same with whatever I had decided I would visually focus on during contractions. I just wanted to close my eyes and go through it. I'm probably having a scheduled c-section this time, so it's not really applicable for me this time, but I was just so surprised by myself with my first. I love listening to music and really expected to want/need music during labor, but my experience was opposite.

Also, I'm glad to see another BSB fan. I have their whole Millennium album memorized and it takes me right back to college and being silly with my roommates.

I have always, always turned to music and books to ramp me up or calm me down so I'm really hoping that remains applicable during this birth. I'm the type of person that needs to have background noise to block the irritating stuff out. I've already made it clear that everyone better keep their mouths shut while I'm in labor unless I initiate conversation. LOL

I thought about taking my knitting, but then realized that might end up with my boyfriend having surgery to remove a knitting needle from his manbits so...

I used to be a big BSB fan. I think the most recent song I've heard and liked from them was Incomplete, though. I don't even have a clue how long ago that came out either -.-

It actually seemed like a very narrow selection to me O.o LOL! Though I did get a giggle out of having "Jesus Take the Wheel" and "Mouth" on the same playlist.

That sounds great! Last time I got my playlist finished up and then went into labor a couple days later. I ended up not listening to it because we left the CD player in the car and there was no way I was letting my DH walk back to the car to get it once I was admitted. I did listen to some of the songs in my head though and that was helpful. I think that listening to them now and relaxing is a great idea!

I'm out of the BSB loop now, too, but it does bring back great memories.

Lol!

It just occurred to me yesterday to do this. I'll have to work on it.

You can SOOOO do a natural birth!! Making a playlist is a great idea. Anything that makes you feel more prepared, in your own unique way, will help. I believe in you- you can totally do this!!

I love, love, love, your playlist. What a fantastic idea! I would definitely have the variety you have on mine if I were to do one. I like to jog and certain songs really pump me up...Sounds crazy, but I like everything from classical, to country, to pop (old school), hip hop, and even what some would consider heavy metal. I personally love to listen to Dave Matthews Band when I am trying to be calm. When I run, louder music! When I clean, I like pop/dance type music especially older 70's or 80's stuff...Michael Jackson, Madonna...Like a Virgin Album!!! Your list made me really think!
