So I have started feeling the contractions in my back. They begin there and once I feel that pain I can pretty much tell that my uterus will tighten up shortly after. We went to church today and weren't there for long (I haven't been in a month because I've been having it bad on Sundays). I got a contraction after 7 minutes, after 5 minutes, after 2 and a half minutes, and again after 2 minutes. We decided to go home so I could rest, now they are farther apart. I think I may have to take more time off work. Also I noticed a little bit of sliminess when I went to the restroom earlier.

I think she's getting closer to coming! DH is freaking out. As soon as we got home he started getting our hospital bag ready and now he's trying to clean everything.

My mom has been freaking out about me having the baby too close to when my sister is due, now that I told her I'm feeling contractions in my back she is freaking out about me having the baby too close to Easter. My dad is getting baptised and coming into the Catholic Church on Saturday so she told me to either have the baby today or wait until after Easter!

Drink and rest sounds like something might be happening. Also sounds like back labor, hang out on all 4s if you want baby to get in better position

Definitely take it easy and drink plenty of fluids. Sounds like things are ramping up. Of course, you never know for sure, but it sure sounds like ut could happen soon!

I've had timeable contractions several times over the past several weeks, and usually resting helps stop them. I agree about getting baby into a better position by getting on all 4s, and also take it easy and drink lots of water.

Good for your dad BTW. Are you planning on going to the vigil? My husbands will be going, but I think I will just wait until Sunday. I don't have the energy at 38 weeks to go anywhere after 6pm.

They are 8 hours away so I won't be able go to. I really hate that I can't be there for him. Growing up he didn't have faith or go to church. Once I got into my twenties and he got cancer he came around to church and I am so happy for him. We decided he will be a godparent to Isabelle, I think he will be a great example for her.

I've been having some, what feel like, really bad gas pains. I've had 5 BH in the past hour. I'm going to wait until school is in session before I head over to the hospital to get checked out. Part of me is kind of hoping that I have her soon, but I know that what's best for her is to stay in a little longer. My sister in law told me to ask for a shot that will help develop her lungs just in case.

The two nurses I saw were confusing to me. They said that my cervix was firm, but my OB said two weeks ago that my cervix was soft. The OB nurse I saw a month ago said my cervix was soft. One of the nurses I saw today that said it was firm told me that everyone feels things differently so no one is wrong. What?! That doesn't make sense to me, how can it go from being soft to firm? Also these nurses said that I have a ring around my cervix. My OB has never mentioned this before. I've never had surgery done on my cervix or a DNC (which she asked about). They said it confused them at first because what they thought was my cervix was a ring around the cervix.

I really don't know what happened. But they seem to think that I have not dilated and am not to the point where they think labor is on its way. I will be talking to my OB on Thursday and asking her to check my cervix because I am just so confused right now.

Just wanted to say that this is how my real contractions felt to me...really low in my pelvis, felt sort of like really bad gas pains.

Sorry you are more confused now. I was just reading something the other day about checking for cervical dilation and effacement, and about how subjective it can be. This is part of why some people don't even bother being checked, because sometimes it can just be confusing or misleading. I guess time will tell, but it does sound like at least something is going on down there. Hoping the baby stays put for a while longer still!

Your cervix can change, especially if there were many checks, it can even regress in labor. If it were me I'd minimize checks, there is really no need for them until you are in active labor IMHO. Or at all for that matter. I also had some frequent contractions last night and some through the night, this morning it seems to have calmed down though thankfully.

Glad to hear that baby is probably going to stay in there a bit longer. I will be curious to hear what your OB says on Thursday. I know that you are excited to meet your LO!

You're also too far along for the "shot" to develop her lungs. They won't give it after 34 weeks. It's contraindicated after that point

I'm now going through a burning pain in my upper abdomen when I stand. I get it every once in a while and it is just intense and doesn't go away until I lay down.
