A friend of mine suggested using ointment for a couple weeks before you start breastfeeding to prevent cracked nipples. I have never heard that advice before, but it makes sense to me. She said she did it with her youngest and it made a big difference for her. Just thought I'd pass it on! I wish I had already started doing it.

Lanolin should work...my tube even recommends doing just that. Coconut oil would probably be good, too.

I think any nipple cream would work. I'm going to use Dr. Newman's (one you get from a compound pharmacy).

I've heard that... I am also going to start using the nipple shields a little early. I have slightly flat nipples...strangely they are only like this when I am pregnant. The more my breasts get bigger the harder they are, so nipple cream and breast shields for me!!!!
