I had my 39-week appointment today. I didn't even have to do a urine sample. She asked me if I had to go, I said I didn't, and no more was said about it. Fine by me! My blood pressure was 120/82 so right where it should be. I'm measuring right at 39 weeks. I told her I usually measure larger, but that doesn't appear to be the case this pregnancy. Baby's heart rate was in the 140-145 range. The MA thought the midwife would want to do a cervical check, but I explained I just had one yesterday. When the midwife was in with me, she said she didn't have any reason to do one, unless I really wanted one. I told her I know that they mean absolutely nothing. She said some women are really insistent about having one done. That tells me I won't have to have them done as long as I keep seeing her up until delivery. She also asked about contractions. I told her I figured I had just been having Braxton Hicks the last week or so, but they told me at the hospital yesterday that I was having contractions. Whatever - they're not painful, timeable, etc. so I'm not concerned.
My next appointment is in 1 week. She said after that, they'll see me at 41 weeks and do an NST, check fluid levels, etc. and then we'll start talking induction. They won't let me go over 42 weeks. I told her I'm good with all of that. She also said that I'm a rarity because most women are begging to be induced, have this over with, etc. long before now. I told her I'm in no hurry, and she said it seemed like that wasn't something I was going to change my mind on. Yeah, all but one of my girls were late, and the one that was early was not by my choice and wasn't me going into labor on my own. So, all up to little man when he decides to come!
That all sounds good! I'm with you...not in a rush. Everyone I talk to figures I must be so ready for it to be over--even dh tonight commented on it. I'm still not, though. Anyway...glad things are going well!
