Just because I think they're kind of funny...here are some of the comments I've heard when people see me babywearing ( most of these are from strangers):
"OMG, you have a baby in there!"
"Oh, I thought you were pregnant...that's a baby!"
"I thought at first that your boobs got really big..." <-- that one was from a teacher at the daycare. What?! Lol.
"Can you drive with her in there?"
"That's how you spoil a baby..."
"Will she fall out?" <-- from my mom, more than once
And some of the better ones:
"That's so great! She can hear your heart beat."
"I've never seen anything like that before! How handy/cute/cool/etc!" (Babywearing is still not common around here).
It's just funny to me that so many people make comments. It's mainstream in my mind, because I have so many online friends who wear their babies, but in reality it's still not the norm here.
Cute! I've gotten the "Oh there's a baby in there!" comments too. I always wear her when we go grocery shopping and I sit Leland in the cart. I mostly just get lots of looks, but the other day I had an old lady come up and start peeking in and touching Rosie's head and asking me if I had a hat for her for when we went outside, since it was "chilly" . Crazy! Kind of funny though b/c there were a couple of people who work there who came up to me and said "ohh you had your baby!" they remembered me shopping there when I was still pregnant. Makes me wonder how much I stuck out that they would remember me .
Haven't goten any stupid ones this time around yet, a few positive ones. Babywearing in my area is pretty common. With my first I used to walk the dog in a gold course so men everywhere and often got comments along the lines of "didn't you get enough during the first 9 months?" I'd just roll my eyes and keep walking lol.
It would be fun to get comments here but it is totally normal. I felt so on top of trends when I used an ergo with my oldest daughter and no one here even looked at me twice. I'd say I see an equal amount of babies in car seats and babies in carriers here when I am out and about.
