... at least for a little bit. (hopefully) I have eczema but didn't really have bad breakouts until I got pregnant. But it never really went away after pregnancy and now I'm getting the same rashes around my areola because the baby saliva is making me break out.

I've been trying all sorts of things including washing right after BFing every time. But its not clearing up. The Dr. said that I can't use cortisone because the baby will ingest it because even if I wash my breasts before BFing its absorbed into my skin and such. I am going to try Aveno Ezema therapy but if it doesn't improve soon and keeps degrading I will have to just pump. Once it gets bad it will be cracking, bleeding and scabbing.

I'm really sad about the idea of not being able to BF my fuss fuss. Its just not the same when I feed him with the bottle.

If anyone knows any ideas that I can try please help.

======================
UPDATE 06/11/13
I was able to pick up the aveno cream and the coconut oil at the store yesterday. I used the coconut oil right away when I got home and noticed when I checked an hour later that the inflamed look was gone. Before bed I gently washed with a mild aveno soap and patted dry and put on the aveno cream before bed.
I just woke up to pump milk and the puffiness and rashy look has diminished a lot!! I almost cried.

I only pumped all day yesterday and will do the same today. If it looks much better tomorrow I will try to BF once or twice and see how it reacts and keep applying the coconut oil during the day and use the cream at night since I don't BF at night and can wash it off with my shower in the morning.

Wish me luck ladies and thanks again for the advice!!!

I had some terrible eczema breakouts for months before and during pregnancy, and coconut oil helped. Breast milk is also a good idea.

Sorry, by the way. I know how miserable eczema can be. Hope you find something that helps!

I was going to suggest both of what Thai Spice did. Breast milk and coconut oil are amazing

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I have tried breastmilk and it seems to temporarily soothe it and helps with the itching but it doesn't seem to clear it up.
I will pick up coconut oil today too and tell you guys how it goes.
I'm just so worried that I won't be able to BF.

I'm glad you're doing better. I have had eczema for many years, but this pregnancy led to complete breakouts on my face. If I don't use steroid creams on it every day, it flares up terribly. Even with the cream, I can't get it to disappear entirely. I was sure it would go away after delivery, but no such luck! At some point, I will probably try breastmilk, but it seems doubtful to me based on my unsuccessful attempts with the cream.

I love coconut oil and I have used it on my nipples a couple times when they were really sore. I also really like the Earth Mama Nipple butter/ cream. It feels really hydrating so it might be worth trying that too. I hope that you can figure something out to help. My older daughter has eczema and it is miserable.

I'm doing WAY better now. I was able to BF twice yesterday and once this morning. The coconut oil is helping so much during the day.
I just think that I will have to do a steady care regimen to keep the breakouts away if I want to continue BFing.
Thank you all again !!

That's awesome! So glad you are able to keep on BF. And I agree about being consistent with the prevention. Eczema is so tough.
