This is probably super neurotic!!! However, I was just curious what your hospitals screen newborns for. This am I had an incident where I was cooking breakfast and for some reason I don't remember if I washed my hands after putting uncooked sausage in the pan. I am usually over the top about this stuff, hence the posting!!! Anyway, I started picking at some grapes and then said, Oh no, I didn't wash my hands before eating and after handling uncooked pork. Maybe I will have that toxiplasmosis now!! I am probably over the top and worrying too much but realized that it can be completely symptomless. The only way to test for it is if you've already had the titer test to see if you were exposed, or to wait till you have the baby. Apparently it's completely treatable if you do test positive, but it's usually really late in the game to notice symptoms for babies that contract at the end of a pregnancy.
Only a few states have that as a newborn screening, so I wondered if anyone lives in one of those places... Or if anyone has even asked what their hospitals screen the babies for.
I think I may be being nuts, but because it is one of those silent but awful illnesses, I just wondered if anyone else is nuts like me, or has inquired about this or other screenings.
Sorry if I'm going nuts!!!
