How much TV do you let your kid watch and what do you let them watch?

Or how much TV watching goes on in general in your casa?

First let me say the prayer I posted for Foey and Happy Mama goes for you too Sis, I'm sorry I hadnt realized you were expecting. May Allah bless you and your unborn child always, Ameen...

As far as TV i'm the worst, I think because we were raised with TV all the time, I do the same. Now I do generally let my watch TV too much of the day, BUT I do instruct educational programs. I do interact with it and reenforce the lessons being taught. I have gotten him DVD's like the Leap Frog letter factory and that has taught him his letters way faster than I ever could and than I go over the letters and sounds. But I do allow it too much. Than again his father is worse, when he is home it would be Cartoon TV all day long. (Good thing that dont happen often.)

But all in all I think it is balanced as long as we remember not to let TV interfer with our life and duties.

Another Muslimah, what do you think and do at your home?

At the moment there is no TV... I moved from Tx to Canada back in May and we never got around to getting one. I plan on getting a small one and a VCR. I like to check out movies from the library. I also do exercise videos or did* exercise videos.

We have a dvd player on the computer so every once in ablue moon we rent a documentary or movie movie. The last film we got was Not Without My Daughter. LoL. I know it is funny, but I wanted to know what all the fuss was about.

DH and I are just not TV watchers... it is not even a jihad for us really. We just rather do other things.

I do plan on getting some videos for the baby. I really want Signing Time since we are planning on learning sign languge inshaAllah. I want us to watch whatever we watch together so I can be there incase something is wrong and also to reinforce what is good. inshaAllah
