Do you think the media makes it easier or more difficult to raise peaceful children? Do you think it's solely the responsibility of the parents to filter what gets through to their children, or does the media shoulder some responsibility as well?
I think it makes it more difficult, I don't really see a lot of benefit to it other than for entertainment purposes. As for what gets through to the kids: for the sorts of things we can enjoy selectively (movies, tv, radio) I think it is up to the parents, although I think the media should provide enough options that there is something to choose from. For the sorts of things that we can't filter out (billboards, etc) I think it's up to the media to make sure it's appropriate. But what the people are willing to accept does influence that. You can say that if you don't like something, just don't watch it, but if enough people don't like it, they won't see any reason to play it, so I think we should be vocal about that.
