Assalamou alaikum,

People will do a lot in the name of discipline. Why do you think some people so easily cross the line between discipline and abuse?

life stresses and lack of control. kids can be frustrating without a hard or stressful life outside of home life. things can go badly very easy, i dont think it is that unthinkable to cross the line at some point. inshAllah it never comes to that.

I think upbringing also comes into play. Some people may view something as abusive such as a raised voice (not including swearing/insults/etc.) that others find to be completely normal. On the other hand some kids are physically abused and grow up thinking it's perfectly normal and treat their own children the same way.
