this isn't exactly a newborn memory, she was probably about 2 months old. I was giving her a bath at my in-law's. whenever I bathed her there I put her in the baby tub on the dining room table, which is level with the window. I was washing her and she was looking outside, and when she turned around and saw me there, she gave me the biggest smile ever! like "oh, hey mama! there you are" and my heart sang.
His first smile, those early mornings with him when it was just the two of us and he would be so alert, the first time I got to see him and I was shocked how soft his skin was.
when we were at the hospital they took him from me to run tests and they didn't bring him back right away (glad i brought house shoes) cause i went to go find him and he was just sitting in the nursery and he was crying and he saw me and he stopped and gave me the biggest smile and the nurse there was like don't let anyone tell you that was gas i am your witness that boy smiled at you.
Thanks for sharing these stories, ladies. As a newbie mom so sick from "all day sickness", I was just thinking "What have I done?" Thanks for bringing it back into perspective. I was seriously tearing up while reading these.

Thank you so much to Jaidynsmum for my beautiful siggy!
My favorite with Liam was when I would lay him on his pack-n-play to get changed, he would try to "talk" to an Elmo in the corner. He did it from about a week old. I guess because it was next to his head and red, and small, he would crane to find it and make mouth movements to "talk" to it. I would put him there just to watch him chat with the Elmo.
And there was a beauty of him being the first and all the naps we took on the couch together in the middle of the day, watching nonsense shows on TV, and carrying him around the house, showing him his digs. There is something special about that "first kid babymoon" because you can really just concentrate on you and the baby, shutting out the world.
With Kieran, he used to make a lot of baby noise that I thought was hilarious. He grunted all the flipping time. And made this expression with his eyes that was creepy. I'll post a picture when I am on a real computer...but it was the weirdest face. I kinda miss it.
My best memory of him is when I pulled him up onto my chest, I wrapped my arms around him and he stopped crying immediately. And we just hung out like that, in a weird state of stopped time. Finally, I noticed everyone had left the room and it was just me and DH and the baby. The nurse came back in and was like "it's been about three hours, do you want to see how big he is or get up to go to the bathroom?" I thought it was super-special that he was so calm and quiet for that long, it felt like minutes. And I DID have to pee! Lol.
DD1 - Nursing her the few random times it worked out. I loved the fact that she only wanted me - no one else (not even DH) could calm her down or stop her crying, only me
DD2 - The cuddles. She was the CUDDLIEST baby ever. She slept on our chests for probably 5 weeks. She wouldn't sleep anywhere else.
