So I said that I was going to not give in to cravings and really work on eating healthy and avoiding the junk and I was doing soooo good but this week I've been eating terrible!
Someone at work mentioned banana splits and I just HAD to have one so I went to Dairy Queen for lunch and got one...then a friend invited me to eat so I met her at Chili's and had the cheese fries w/ bacon and jalepenos, AND chicken fajitas.....
Now I'm back at work and feeling really guilty....I gotta get back on that horse and stick to the healthier eating habits or I'm gonna be big as a house. I'm already about 30-40lbs overweight, altho I'm 5'10ish so I carry it pretty well...
*sigh*

I like the 80/20 rule. If you allow yourself some indulgences you will maintain much better control than otherwise. Just make them really really good ones to make it as satisfying as humanly possible and don't feel the slightest bit guilty. Plan them. Look forward to them. Know it's coming so you can say no to the less satisfying things. Then otherwise be really super healthy Can't be perfect all the time! And give a little wiggle room so if you have something not quite so healthy it's not a big deal. No matter what though, don't ever ever feel guilty or beat yourself up over food choices. Just leads to stress, guilt and bad patterns which are way worse than eating not so good foods sometimes. Fully enjoy instead and move on to your next encounter guilt free and happy making the best choices you can.

I think its absolutely okay to indulge sometimes, especially when you're pregnant. Don't beat yourself up over it, I think you will be just fine

I'm indulging right now bc I feel so lousy. Whatever my body wants, I go with. I figure when I feel better in 2nd trimester, I can worry about my diet.

Meeee toooo! I've pretty much been drinking nothing but water, but I'll confess....I did order a coke the other day w/ my meal but I only drank about half the glass they gave me...usually I would've drank that and got a refill and maybe even a to go cup!! LOL

Great advice! I'm a planner so that would probably work well for me!

I have so many times that I can't eat anything that I really just try to eat when I can even if it's not good for me.

I ate two bowls of cereal this morning at 6 and then had a ham, egg and cheese biscuit and a hashbrown again at 9:15 so I have no room to judge today!!!

Don't beat yourself up! The first trimester is so rough, no need to feel bad for just doing what your body and subconcious wants. Have you read It Starts With Food? It explains how certain foods CAN lift your mood just because you wanted them. And not getting them will upset you. I like the 80/20 idea or indulge as much as you want, just a lot less than normal. Like have 5 fries instead of the whole basket and just a quarter of a split instead of a whole one. If that's not worth it to you, then it isn't worth it to eat the food. KWIM?

I had a milkshake for dinner yesterday. Feel better? I've been eating pretty awful lately but I did in my first trimester my last pregnancy as well. I feel crappy so sometimes nothing but fattening things sound appealing.

I think with m/s and all that, sometimes there are only certain things that sound good, and you can't force it. Enjoy life, I like the 80/20 idea!
I'm kinda forced to eat healthy right now, as pizza, soda and chocolate just don't sound appetizing right now! I know, I'm crazy! I am looking forward to the second trimester when I can eat the good stuff again
For now, it's just veggies and brown rice and fruit and dairy and such...haha so boring.

I'm right there with ya! I was doing so well before I was pregnant, and now I have been getting smoothies at wawa and gummie bears. I usually eat tons of veggies and very little carbs. However, this week it's been a carb party for me. Don't feel bad or beat yourself up, we are all doing it, lol

As I'm typing this I'm trying to talk myself out of ordering pizza. I think the 80/20 idea is awesome and will probably try to incorporate that. I think right now I'm feeling extra guilt because I haven't been in the gym as much too.
