I am 7 weeks now, and I still have not heard back from the Midwife board to see if I've been accepted as a patient.... They very politely, but clearly told me not to call back unless 'something changes' (ie a MC) but I am starting to think it's about time that I should be seen!

Is this normal?

I haven't dealt with midwives before but I'd wait til 8 weeks and then call. Most Dr.s won't see you until after 8 weeks.

Personally i think its kinda rude that they told u not to call unless something changed, regardless of how politely it was said. Ur pregnant, if you have questions or concerns you should be encouraged to call! But that's just my opinion. :-P

Yeah, what Rachel said! I do think it's common to not be seen until you have missed two periods but they could have explained that to you in a nicer manner. I'd be put off by any doctor telling me not to call their office if I had a question.

Exactly. I'd be irritated. (Don't get me started on my "Whatever happened to customer service?!?!" rant! )

How long ago did you contact them?

I don't have any experience with midwives either, so unfortunately I don't know what the protocol is as far as waiting to be accepted as a patient. I think if it's been a couple weeks since you were in contact with them, though, then it shouldn't hurt to call and ask for the status of your request. Good luck, and I hope you hear from them soon!
