Im sorry that she was so rude! I had a similar experience. My Ultrasound tech was on vacation and I had to go somewhere new and I was about 7 weeks as well. She did the transvaginal and after about 10 mins just said " Theres no baby, you need to call your doctor" Some people can be so incompassionate (is that a word?) but I looked it up and saw a sac but not the baby. I think she didnt look right and she was really rude. I called my doc and told her about the experinece and she apologised, had me get bloodwork done to see if my betas went up and then an Ultrasound that coming monday and it showed a healthy 8 week old baby. It was just 3 days after the other tech said I had " no baby" Dont give up hope!! Praying for you!!

Thank you all. It gives me hope knowing that others have ultrasounds early on that had a bad outlook but ended up seeing a healthy baby. I really hope that my story has a happy ending this time.

I am so pissed on your behalf. First, what kind of tech starts with an abdominal ultrasound when you are only 7 weeks? Then to tell you to schedule a D&C after a 3 minute search. How can she possibly say no baby when she couldn't even find your uterus where the baby would be?

I'm so terribly sorry that you met the worst ultrasound tech later. I hope that we can all giggle about this in May when you deliver a perfectly healthy baby! Hang in there and I can't wait for your update...both about your baby and about your new doctor. I would be out the door to a new doctor without a single hesitation.

Lots of prayers for you and your baby. I'm glad to hear you aren't just jumping right into a D&C. Seems like doctors these days are so quick to hand that determination out. Your body will let you know what it needs. Good luck to you.

I can't believe they were so passive with you like that! How infuriating. Good for you for not just taking their word at it and fighting for a second opinion. I hope and pray they were very very wrong. Come on baby!!

Lots of positive vibes coming your way! You are DEFINITELY doing the right thing!!!!!!! I would be furious if they told be D&C after a 2 minute ultrasound. That disgusts me!

when I had my mc, the ER did an ultrasound(30 min or so), then radiology did an ultrasound (another 30 min), then they sent me up to the OBGYN offices, and the OBGYN who would do the DnC did a third long ultrasound. They all wanted to be certain that they weren't missing anything.
They did a 4th ultrasound immediately before the DnC just to make sure.
Plus, it's not like you can walk in to a hospital and say, hi, i need a DnC. They have to schedule it with the doc, anesthesiologist, and OR. Plus all the paperwork you have to fill out.

i'm sorry you had to go through that. good luck at your next appointment.

I am holding out hope for you girl.... I just know we are supposed to do this together. I think you were in too much shock to be yourself until you got home and talked it out and realized this was all such crap. I really hope your baby was just tucked in there good. For a ditz that cant find your uterus I cant believe they said you needed a D&C yesterday!
