Does anyone have experience with this? At my 20 week ultrasound, tech found one of these on baby's brain. Because it is isolated and there were no other soft markers, they tell me not to worry. Easier said than done. Would love to hear some positive stories. Thanks.

i have no idea what this is, but listen to your doctor!

ok i just read the wiki article about them and it sounds like they aren't a problem at all (especially since you don't have any other markers...). hope others can be more helpful!

I pulled up Wiki on it too, here's an excerpt:

"It is believed that many adults have one or more tiny CPCs. CPCs have no impact on an individual's health or development or learning. The fetal brain may create these cysts as a normal part of development. They are temporary and usually are gone by the 32nd week of pregnancy."

Yeah, I've been reading too...I'm just worried what if they missed other markers? Sometimes ultrasounds can't show everything. I need to stop reading!

Definitely stop reading!
I know I would be freaked out too, but at this stage of the game, baby is pretty big and I think it would be pretty easy to see problem spots. Did they do the whole anatomy scan? Mine was very thorough. You could always ask the hospital for a copy of the u/s report, they usually are double-checked by a radiologist. That way you'd know for sure there was nothing else, just to give you peace of mind.

Try and stay positive. Chances are it will disappear...have faith. I too was told that something looked different on my baby's brain. They said baby has some fluid on it but that it is possible it could go away. I did the wrong thing and googled it. I have to go back for more pictures with a doctor in 2 weeks. I haven't told anyone until now but Im trying to stay postive and pray that it goes away. Do you have to go back for more pictures?

My friends daughter had them. She is the most rambunctious toddler of our all-boy-but-her crowd She runs circles around our little guys. I know hers were found around week 19 and they had disappeared by week 30. She had no other markers either and is a perfectly healthy toddler.

From what I understand, better ultrasound technology is making them more commonplace and therefore doctors don't necessarily consider them a problem anymore. Unless, of course, they show up with other markers.

That's awesome! Thanks for sharing. I don't have to go back, unless I want to for peace of mind in 8 weeks. I may do that.

I think peace of mind would be a great thing! I know it's impossible to turn worry off, but this sounds like nothing to be super alarmed about.

I believe my friend's little girl had a few of them on her brain and they were cleared up by 30 weeks. She is a perfect little one.

I would go back for the follow up just to calm my nerves but I think you should take some comfort in the fact that your doctor finds a follow up optional. I hope they go away on their own and soon!

FYI, we confirmed we are team pink. Tech could tell in first 30 seconds! Some of you may remember our OB offered us a sneak peak at gender the week before. The baby wasn't in the best position, so I wasn't convinced. Now I am!
