I know I've told you all about how my mom is real busy with her "new" family and we live a mile away from her yet we never see her and she rarely sees our DD. Well that hasn't changed much, yet, BUT, I feel like she secretly made making more of an effort with me a New Years resolution or something. She calls several times a week just to say she misses me or see how we're doing and she even is throwing me a baby shower and I don't have to do anything for it (unlike my last one). I didn't want a shower because I don't like the attention, because i hate all the prep, and because I thought you really only shower the first kid.

She talked me into it because she wants baby boy to be celebrated and it just may be our last kid.... (Not taking any permanent action ) So she's holding the shower at her house and got it catered (yay for a taco man) and is getting the best cupcakes in the world made. She's also planned a special dinner at farrels ice cream for DDs bday with some friends in 2 weeks because we don't have the money, time, or energy to do much this year. She will be in Cabo on vacation with her friends a couple days later on DDs actual bday, but just the effort really makes me happy and my daughter loves her and is excited too.

I'm just happy

How sweet! That's nice that she seems to be reaching out to you, and that she's doing all these nice things. Hope it's more than just a New Year's resolution and more like a permanent change!

I am very happy for you. I hope she realizes how much more fun it is to be involved in your lives and makes it a permanent thing. But for now, I am really glad she is making that effort and that you AND your daughter get to reap the benefits of being pampered for your special events!
