Do you ever check your registry to see what is bought? I know some women check every day but I just can't bring myself to do it! I like the surprise. I was looking at my registry last week to see about adding a thing or two and accidentally found myself in the "already purchased" section. Luckily, I only saw one item before I quickly scrolled back up but it kind of upset me that I saw something!!

So, what kind of person are you? Do you like the surprise or can you not handle the suspense?

I like the surprise, but I never wait for it. Mostly because people keep asking me what I have and what I need instead of just looking at the registry so I'm having to go back and see what has and hasn't been bought.

I don't have a registry this time around, but when I was pregnant with DS, I checked it. I like surprise, and I tried not to check it, but I couldn't resist! Same reason I could never be on Team Green - can't resist the temptation of knowing!

Ditto!! I couldn't help myself last time.

After the shower, I always justified my checking by claiming I was making sure the registry was accurate.

I've never done a baby registry. We did one for our wedding and only one thing was bought off it, we mostly got money so it was a big waste of time. People just asked what we needed/wanted and they went with that.

Yep, I do check my registries because people are always calling me and telling me to put more stuff on there. One of my registries is on Amazon so I've been receiving packages for the last couple of weeks. Kind of ruins the surprise factor

Yup! Mine is on Amazon (created primarily for out of state friends and family), and so far no one has gotten me anything off of it-- or at least they haven't been marked off the list, lol. My baby shower is this Sunday so I doubt anyone will be ordering something off of it this late in the game, but a lot of the items are easy enough to find at local stores so I wouldn't be surprised if a few of my registry items show up at my shower . Either way, most of the items on our registry are "extras" that we don't necessarily need but would like, and if we do end up having to get a few items ourselves it won't be the end of the world ;P.

I can't remember exactly how to do it, but there's a way to avoid at least seeing WHO bought what for you from your registry/wish list. If you're worried about knowing WHAT was bought before you actually want to know, then you could simply not check your registry and/or avoid opening any packages sent (assuming you're not waiting for a package you ordered yourself lol). I'm usually not that patient, though, so I wouldn't blame you if you gave in haha ;P.

I think when I did my Amazon registry there was an option to check that allowed you to hide what was bought. All I see on mine is how many items were bought off the registry. Babies R Us didn't have that option though.

And I don't know what is the proper thing to do with the packages that get sent to my house. We got something last week that didn't even say Babies R Us on it and we opened it because we weren't sure what was in it. It turns out that someone from our guest list ordered some baby things and accidentally mailed it to our house instead of hers!! I feel so bad about it. She was pretty upset that she wouldn't be able to wrap the gifts to give us at the shower.

I've never had a shower or a registry. I think if family knew we'd have at least 10 kids they would have given us one

Mrs. B, don't fret, sometimes people will look at a registry and buy stuff based on what's listed, but then not go in and check it off for you to see. So you may still be getting a potload of goodies

Yep. To be fair when I look at the registry I only check to see how much we'll have to spend after the shower.

I think most people shop the day before or the day of the shower. You'll be amazed at how much is bought if you look again in another week or week and a half.

I know that a lot of people like to just shop themselves for the baby and not use a registry. I used to be like that for baby showers until my sister had hers and complained about how she didn't get more than just a few items from her registry and had to buy the rest. Now I try to stick mostly to the registries and maybe add a thing or two extra.

But I agree with Joy, you are going to be well taken care of with 50 people attending your shower!!

My shower is the 23rd so I will check closer to the date. I am hoping people buy off the registry, but I know not to depend on it. I assume I will get a lot of clothes, but my mom has spoiled me with that so hoping for more of the other items. Some items were just cheap items that I could technically live without, but I wanted there to be a variety of price ranges.
I invited about 30 people, but figure half may show up. My mil won't buy off registrries she may look at them and then try to find a cheaper similar item somewhere else.

I do check it and always feel so guilty. I mostly like to just keep tabs on what we might need to buy still after the baby is born.

I have been editing my registiries and I was wondering if those of you that are moms have found baby hangers to be necessary? I have noticed many of my baby clothses came with a hanger. I also figured I would be keeping most of the folded in a dresser.
Thoughts?
