I think I have a uti on top of my other issues, so I made a trip to the always lovely army ER. I asked the triage nurse if I should pee in the cup immediately, and she said I could wait...thought it was weird, but ok. Sat down for 2 hours and saw people...lots of people...who had come in after me go back to be seen. I asked a different nurse if I should pee in a cup. She said yes and gave me one. An hour later, I get called back. Now to wait in the back for an hour. Doctor comes in and askes me a million questions that I already answered in triage. Asks me which pregnancy this is for me, I tell him number 4. He says so you have three kids. I say no just one. He asks me what happened to the other two...crickets...seriously? Take a guess, please. Use your fancy medical degree to draw a reasonable conclusion. Ugh. Another hour passes, and he pokes his head in to say my lab result are in, but they are iffy because my sample wasn't a clean catch, so a nurse would be in to do a catheter catch. Totally refused that. A uti diagnosis need not be so invasive. I would have had to sit there for three more hours to get the results. Nope nope nope. Eventually, they get around to releasing me, and low and behold, the doctor gave me a prescription for antibiotics. I have one more appointment with the Armh, then I'm done with the nonsense forever. I went in at 537pm and left at midnight.

Thats insane. Anyone that comes through our ER with a complaint of UTI or abdominal pain automatically gets a urine cup. Crap when we're busy we'll order cat scans, x rays, and full blood work ups from ER and have all of the results ready for the doc as soon as the person gets to a room in the back. I've never had to use an Army hospital but from all of the stories I hear I'm glad I haven't. You're almost done with them. Hope your next hospital is a lot more compassionate.

Wow, that really SUCKS! All that for an antibiotic. Maybe you should have called your OB or reg. doctor and spoke to the answering service. The dr. probably would have prescribed it to you over the phone.Hope you feel better.

It doesn't work like that. If it is after regular hours, you go to the er. If you have labor symptoms you go to labor and delivery. They sent me to l and d but they sent me back to the waiting room because they didn't have any beds top triage me. At that point. .. midnight. ..I just left. I have an appointment on Monday.

What a crappy night you had! So sorry you are dealing with all of this, it'll be over soon. Hope the antibiotics work well and you rest up for the weekend. I hate the pregnancy/ children question...look in the **** file!!
