I saw a civilian doctor today and she was wonderful. Nothing extraordinary but I was treated like a person. She took her time and gave me hope. She said she had s patient with a fibroid larger than mine in the same location who delivered vaginally. I just feel happy and hopeful. I'm having a baby not a bad experience! I go back Wednesday for a sonogram and next Tuesday for another appt.
I'm glad you got into someone else. Seriously, the attitude of the provider has soooo much to do with the outcome of the pregnancy. There are some OBs I've met or been treated by that I truly felt needed to find a different field of medicine or needed to go on and be specialists.
I feel like I can relax and just enjoy the rest of this journey instead of worrying about how awful it will be. I really didn't trust Dr. Doom. It seemed like he would force me to do whatever suited him. I'm so relieved.
My husband just for out of the army, so we switched to the insurance the reservists get. I could have switched early but I liked who I was seeing. Once they decided my fibroid might be troublesome, I had to switch to Dr. Doom.
When I found out I was pregnant, we tried to get a referral to civilian docs, but they refused.
SO glad you're finally getting genuine care and can breathe!!! You deserve to feel completely comfortable and at peace with how things might go... and yay for the good news, at least the doc is experienced with the fibroid and willing to try your birth plan if it's safe.
