It's still okay to take some sleeping aids right?

I'm only 16 days away from my due date and I will need those 16 days of restful sleep. And I am not getting it. No matter how sleepy I am I still stay wide awake till early morning hours. It's already 12:18am and I am wide awake again.

I have used chamomile tea, and melatonin for sleeping. Unisom is safe, as is benadryl. What do you have on hand?
Herbal-wise, stay away from valerian root.

My doc told me to use unisom and that it was safe enough for everyday use.

I didn't sleep for weeks before I had Avery, and even less now. lol But seriously I tried the unison a few times and it did nothing for me at all. They even gave me an Ambien one night in the hospital trying to get me to rest and it didn't phase me either. I think it's just the closer we get to due dates the more excited we are and it's harder to turn our minds off at night. Hopefully you find something soon that works for you.

I was too nervous to take sleep aids, so I usually just found a very boring book and forced myself to read it until I fell asleep, lol. I have heard some things about unisom (probably not true things) but it is enough for me to get it in my head that it isn't safe. The only thing my dr said is safe is Benadryl. I am sure there is nothing wrong with what the other girls suggested, I am just super paranoid about stuff like that.

The only thing I have on hand is Benadryl
And that use to knock me out before I was pregnant.
Literally, 15 mins after taking the med I would be sound asleep. I will need to try that tonight.
