I turned in the paperwork to add Avery to my health insurance, but decided not to add her to the dental and vision yet since we wouldn't be using them for a while. I'll add her to the dental during open enrollment in October so she'll have coverage next year when she has teeth, but I'm not sure when to add her to the vision plan. At what age do children start getting eye exams?
I have yet to take my son to the eye doctor, but he is on the plan. You never know when there could be an emergency and you need to go. My hubby recently went to his eye doctor, and she said the first routine exam is around kindergarten.
I just added my son to our dental insurance this year so that he can go when he turns three. He's still not on our vision coverage because I don't see him going to the eye doctor in the near future. In fact unless he has a problem I don't believe there's really reason to take them until elementary school. People start taking their kids to the dentist and eye doctor at different times, it's really all up to you and what your Pediatrician reccomend.
