I have a friend who is in her 3rd trimester, and she was found to have GD. Now they have her on a diet where she only gets 1800 calories per day. She says on this new diet she ends up dizzy and lightheaded by lunchtime. I thought pregnant women weren't supposed to restrict their calories!!
When I am pregnant, I get about 2000 a day. I have never had dizziness or anything, it's just what I need. Is she sure the dizziness/lightheadness isn't just late pregnancy? From sitting to standing to quickly?

That doesn't really sound right to me. A GD diet doesn't have to be low in calories, just low in carbs. I was probably getting between 1800-2000 calories per day, but I had to add in high calorie foods like avocado and lots of cheese, other dairy, etc. I never really felt light-headed, but I was hungry a lot.
