...is bumming me out. I know it "takes time" to get back to your old shape, but I don't want it to take time! I want it back now. I feel so dumpy and pudgy, despite my best efforts. All the shape wear in the world couldn't help me right now. This ******* sucks. Okay, I'm done. Thanks for the rant.

I'm sorry. If it makes you feel any better, I've been down about my PP body too. I got a lot more stretch marks this time than I did last time, and I despair of my belly skin ever going back to what it was before. Plus I'm stubbornly holding at 10 lbs over my pre-preggo weight, which was in itself 10 lbs over what I weighed before DS1 was born...so really I have like 20 lbs to go, which is depressing.

Joy, I am in the exact same boat as you...10 lbs to go, which was still 10 lbs up from DS1! I hate my body! I got way more stretch marks too. I can't fit into any regular clothes - still all maternity. Which sucks. People think I'm still pregnant, I bet.

Ah ladies, our bodies did an amazing thing! Give it time. Until than, find something that fits you nice, get your hair done. You will feel better, I promise!

I still have 37 lbs to lose!! 47 if you include TTC. Our gym has a nursery for 6 weeks and up so as soon as Avery gets her 2 month shots I'm going to start going. I just don't want her exposed to other kids until then. We already started eating better so hopefully adding exercise will get the weight down.

haha this post makes me want to cry. i've just been too sleep deprived (and until the last week, too physically weak) to even think about it, but now that i'm starting to have a little more energy (although still exhausted) it just depresses me. i can't remember who said it here (memi, maybe?) and i thought, "yes, that's exactly it!" but my stomach still looks like a (discolored) deflated balloon and has way more fat on it than it ever has in my life. i've lost just over 30 lbs since giving birth (5 weeks ago!)... but that gives me 30 more to go! PLUS i got tons of stretch marks on my low stomach in the last two weeks of pregnancy, and my boobs have them too. i know i just had a baby, but i can't help but hate this!

Rhea, you'd think with how our bodies are so "amazing" that we can make these little people, and then amazingly give birth to them and feed them and all that, that our bodies would have had some coping mechanisms in place to deal with the aftermath of it all! Seems like they go from being "amazing" to being pathetic in short order!

I gained 33 pounds during pregnancy and have 8 pounds to lose now, after just breastfeeding. My doctor said it's normal to have extra weight until you're done nursing, and said I'll probably be back to normal weight in a year. I think I'll be able to lose it faster than that once I start exercising, but I am a little worried about it hurting my milk supply.

What bothers me isn't so much the extra weight, but the way my stomach has changed. I got a lot of stretch marks during the pregnancy, and some of them are so dark I fear they'll be really noticeable forever. The skin around my old navel piercing looks all weird and super dark, too, against my regular super pale skin. Then, of course, there's the wrinkliness that I'm really hoping will go away with exercise. And does anyone else still have their linea nigra? Because I do...and I read that it doesn't always go away! Just last night I was telling my husband that I feel ugly. He tried to reassure me by saying he didn't think I look ugly, but I know he doesn't like how my body looks right now. Bleh. :/

Your stretch marks should fade with time, they will turn pale eventually. Mine are still really dark and angry looking, too. I still have my linea negra too, and I recall it sticking around longer than I anticipated with my first one, but it did eventually fade. I read somewhere that your hormones post-partum don't really settle down until about 6 months out. I would guess that would be why we still have the linea negra. So give it time! Easier said than done!

Yes, my linea nigra with my first took a good 6 months to fade...I thought I didn't get one this time around, but it's definitely there. It just got hidden in all the new stretch marks. Yuck. Oh, and apparently I might have an umbilical hernia, according to my OB. But no suggestions for treatment, let's just wait and see. Great.

Hey Kary, about the umbilical hernia, I have read about that online, and read several women's stories about how they did nothing, then got pregnant again and were in a horrible amount of pain from it. So just an FYI if you plan to have any more kids, get it fixed BEFORE you get pregnant, because after you're pregnant, you can't do a darned thing about it.
And if your OB isn't wanting to do anything about it, but you are hurting, get a second opinion.

My gut looks like a freakin' war zone right now. I'm slightly pissed the OB/GYN didn't help a sister out and give me just a SLIGHT tummy tuck when he gave me the c-section. Like, seriously. $34,000 billed to my insurance, and you couldn't tighten the area up just a smidge?

I've lost 30 pounds since the birth, but sadly I have 18 more to go to get to pre-preg weight (and I really had like 25 to lose prior to that, so let's just call it an even 45 pounds to go). Urg. Somehow, my husband still finds me attractive, so I guess I'll just go with it!

Sadly...I am in this boat too I dunno what it is this time, but I feel bloated and blah. It's not really the weight, although I basically plateaued completely in the past 3 weeks. It just the feeling of being in a more foreign body. I'll admit, I got super-lucky with my boys. My body didn't change shape or have major issues letting go of the weight. This time, my rib cage is wider, my hips are wider, and I am just holding onto a solid 10lbs right around my belly. I have another 6 in other areas, but it's more spread out, which helps. I feel so uncomfortable in my skin. And I also ended up with a linea nigra. Which is weird, because it wasn't there when I was pregnant! And it popped up about a week afterward!

I am trying to be really gentle with myself, since I don't like being hung up about weight or getting down about it not falling right off. But, it's a struggle when none of my clothes fit and I feel so frumpy in maternity stuff. I did go out and buy two floaty summery dresses to boost my wardrobe and that has helped a bit. At least I can throw them on and feel okay about things

Getting dressed for the day is an emotional battle. The extra weight is tough but what I hate the most is the way its carried PP. This flabby tire around my lower belly is the worst and needs to go! Between what fits and needing access for BFing my wardrobe selections are very slim right now. Its such a downer! I have about 20 lbs I need to shed.

I've lost all my preggo weight and then some but still have a lot to go to get to where I should be. The thing I don't understand is why my entire shape is so different, my body is nothing like its old self and I have that strange lower tummy thing that I see csection ladies have....ain't nobody got time for that.

I'm glad I'm not alone with the discolored belly button area. I hope it goes back to normal for us eventually!

That's my exact sitch too! I end up with a huge pile of clothes on the floor every time I have to go somewhere. My boobs are so big too that just trying to get dressed without looking like a porn star is really challenging!

Raising hand for the discolored belly button too! It's this hideous dark brown.

I had a dream about eating cake from my favorite bakery last night. Woke up and had gained a pound. Go figure.
