Hey! Just wondering if anyone else who's EBF-ing is experiencing cramping here or there. I'm 9 weeks postpartum tomorrow and keep feeling like I'm going to get my AF, but then nothing happens. Is it possible to ovulate while BFing, but not actually get your period? That's what it feels like.
I have been cramping for 2 days. I still haven't had a period yet? I give a bottle here and there but pump to make up for the missed feeding and to keep my stock up in the freezer for when I go back to work.
I get cramps while nursing (or even while not nursing). But it's been like that for at least 6 weeks. I asked my doc and he said it was normal for some women to cramp mildly (mine are pretty mild) for months after having a baby. Sort of like an irritable uterus thing. But mine are not limited to a day or two, so I would certainly keep an eye on if they have a pattern. It's possible your body is *trying* to ovulate (I got that once before our first ovulation after Kieran). It's also possible that your cycle is trying to return, especially if you got one early after your daughter. Some women are wired to return to fertility earlier than others while EBF. I have known friends who get it back at 3 months and ones who get it back at 20 months. It's just your body. I got one back at 4 months and one back at 11 months (well, I would have if I hadn't caught that first egg). So there is even some variation within the same woman.
