So last night Lexi went to bed around 8:30 pm and I stayed up a tad too late in the basement watching TV - like almost 1 am. I kind of dozed on and off and lost track of time. Then by the time I got ready for bed and looked at some new clothes I ordered for her online, it was 2 am. Well I knew she would get up in 1-2 hrs for a feeding, so I decided to do a preemptive strike. I woke her to feed at 2 am. Then I went to bed. And she didn't budge until 8:30 am! So I think I may try that tonight, except try to make it earlier, maybe 1 am or 12:30 am. I used to do that with my son - I would wake to feed him when I went to bed at midnight, and he would sleep until 7:30 am or so. I think I prefer that to being woken up at 4 am. Has anyone tried this?

So I read this and considered trying it, but I suppose Avery read my thoughts and wanted to show me she only sleeps on her terms. She decided to wake up literally every single hour on the hour from 7pm-3am when she figured she would go ahead and stay awake until 5am at that point. It's 6am now and she is sleeping on the nippy on my lap in the rocking chair and I'm terrified to move.

We've done something similar many times.... when we were out at the lake he'd fall asleep at his normal 1030pm while we were sitting around the fire. I would wake him up to change and feed him when we went in around 2am, and he'd sleep until it was morning!

Haha, I thought "nippy" was your word for nipple- as in you were breast feeding. I was thinking "to each his own"!

I have tried that before. But when Jo wants to sleep....she wants to SLEEP. She won't wake up and eat, just nod off again. So it sorta didn't help me. But I did it often with Kieran and it worked fine. Whatever gets you the max sleep is the perfect idea

2am to 6am is awesome. I would just be glad you got some extra sleep!

Misty, lol I was thinking "nippy"=nipple too, haha. Gotta love autocorrect!
Oh, and if any of you haven't seen it, www.****youautocorrect.com is too funny!

Dang, JM won't let me use a swear word, lol. So it's, www.d amn youautocorrect.com. (just take out the spaces)
PS...just a heads up there are lots of swear words and adult humor but I think it's funny as heck!

So, I'm giving up this idea for now. The past two nights she only went till 6:30 am after I woke her to feed at 2 am, which wasn't significant enough for me. And the other night when I was changing her after the 2 am feeding, she would not stop pooping! It was a big old mess and took forever before I finally finished. By then she was wide awake and cooing and had some trouble settling. So I'm not messing with her natural rythyms! Last night I let her go and she slept until 4:30 am. I just need to go to bed earlier!

So are you saying 2am is your normal bedtime? Gosh, I couldn't do that!

Well, what happens is I usually fall asleep watching TV in the basement around midnite...so I do get some sleep down there a bit. Then I go upstairs to get ready for bed and it is usually close to 2 am at that point. But tonight I made a point to come up to bed before I fell asleep. It's still early for me - only 12:30 am. I feel I'm in danger of a clog on one of my breasts, though, so I'm actually going to go wake her up soon to feed her. After checking justmommies of course! Hehe
