We just keep the house at 75 and he's in a sleep n play. We will probably keep adjusting the temp as it gets colder so we won't have to use them. I don't want to use them because Wyatt rolls and scoots all over his crib. I have put him to bed on his tummy with his head up top and woken to him on his back and his head at the foot of the bed. Kids crazy!
I started with Kieran around 9 months. Just lightweight ones (it was summer). Once they are pretty physically adept, I think it's fine. He was sitting, crawling, standing, and climbing at that stage, so I figured he could move away from a potential hazard. Just me though
I'm a stickler for the rules. The AAP recommends no blankets, soft bedding, or soft toys in the crib before age 1. We used sleepsacks, which were awesome. We didn't have a need for blankets until he outgrew the highest size of the sleepsack, and by then he was at least 2.
When hes not in a sleepsak I use a lightweight blanket. I mostly use it to cover his legs. I am always watching though either Im in the same room or hes on the monitor. Love the sleep saks though. I think in the winter I will mostly be using them.
I was just going to post about this!! We use a sleep sack but I honestly think it wakes Grady up. He rolls around a lot and I think it gets kind of twisted around his legs. I'm considering just dressing him warmly and not using anything.
