I can't find the thread but the other day Joy suggested putting your pillow case under your baby so it smells like you and they can hopefully sooth themselves. I have heard about putting something of yours into the babies bed with them but could not work out what I could use. I tried the pillow case today and it is amazing! Brian ALWAYS wakes up after half an hour and will not go back to sleep on his own. Sometimes if I pick him up and rock him I can extend the sleep but not always (this is just during the day, not at night.... He sleeps much longer then). I heard him wake after half an hour but just left him and after a few groans he just went straight back to sleep on his own. First time EVER! Hopefully this isn't a once off thing!
Think I will try that! I gave up with the sleep thing! He will go to sleep in his crib but after his 11 pm feeding its all down hill from there and Im SO tired by that point I just bring him to bed with me.
Haha I'm so glad it worked! It's something I tried with my oldest when he was a baby, out of desperation. We also tried having DH put one of my shirts over his chest to hold DS1, because DS1 only wanted me all the time, so I thought maybe it would work if we fooled his nose...haha that one didn't work.
But I'm so glad you got some extra sleep out of him! I hope he does it again for you!
Lurking from the June '13 playroom. I saw this thread posted on the main page and had to check it out. Anna will only sleep for a half hour during the day (except she's been taking a 2 hour nap in the afternoon, but that just screws the rest of the afternoon/evening up). She does great at night, though. I'll have to try this in some form. I always let her groan a little while before I go pick her up to see if she'll go back to sleep. At night she does, but not during the day. Thanks for the idea!
