Woke up to feed Avery at 2am and stepped in water getting out of bed. We had some serious rainfall the last 24 hours and now the water in my yard is up to my knees and the house has at least 6 inches of water throughout now and it's rising. I don't even know what to think right now. Everything is just gone. We do have flood insurance so I'll be on the phone with them soon It hasn't even stopped raining yet. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. I keep telling myself everyone made it out safe and that's what truly matters.

When I saw your post I thought something had happened to Avery. I'm glad that's not the case, but I can't imagine losing everything in a flood. There are just some things you can't replace. Big hugs, I am so sorry.

Sorry, girl! That SUCKS.

FYI- I was an insurance adjuster before I quit to take care of Wy, (although I did auto- not homeowners) and I can tell you when disasters like this happen and there are a lot of claims coming in- expect lots of delays. So my advice to you is: SQUEAKY WHEEL GETS THE GREASE. Keep on your adjuster and also get their email address. You will sometimes get a quicker response from email then if you call and leave a message. I'm glad you have flood insurance!! Not many companies offer that.

Good luck, and glad everyone is safe!

Thanks everyone. The water receded some and we were able to get some clothes and stuff out. Managed to save my pump (hallelujah). All of Avery's toys are gone now which I know is trivial but I still feel bad. My family and friends are amazing though and already offering to help replace stuff and help clean. i was planning on spending tomorrow cleaning up but now I'm wondering if I should wait for the adjustor before getting in there. I had been talking about remodeling, but this is certainly not how I planned on doing it.

Southwest Louisiana. After months of not raining it decided to dump 12 inches in 24 hours. Craziness.

I'm more composed now. Went and checked. Most of the water is gone now. We're gonna get back in there tomorrow to finish clearing the water still there and see what clothes and food and stuff we can get out and use. Here's a couple of pics from this morning. The water had already started receding when we took them but you can see the watermark on the house.

Holy bananas! That's a ton of water. I am so sorry your home is damaged and you lost so much. I hope you get it taken care of quickly and back to like nothing happened.
