well my dd is 2 months and i think 2 or 3 weeks after she was born till now, she's been having watery eyes and getting the crust in her eyes and the yellow or green eye gunk. i told her old dr. about it and she gave me this gel kinda medicine for her eyes but it doesn't seem to work. did some of you ladies go through this and what did you use to clear this problem up? thanks.

Hmm- sounds like conjunctivitis and it sounds like they gave you the erythromycin antibiotic gel. How long has she been on the antibiotic gel? (if thats what it is). It can take around 7-10 days to clear. I used warm compressses on my kid's eyes for that too. Just make sure the water is not too warm. If she doesn't respond- I would take her back to the doctor to be sure that's what it is. Also, one of my kids had a blocked tear duct that cause crusting like that. Good luck - your daughter is a cutie-patootie
thank you! yea the doctor said it can be a blocked tear duct. well i've only been using the medicine for i think 3 or 4 days. lol but i thought it would start to get better by now but its hasn't. thanks for the help!
My daughter had the same problem and the doctor said she had blocked tearducts(sp). I had gel for her eyes and eyedrops. She is 3 years old and she has never really gotten over it. Also, the doctor told me to massage the corners of her eyes gently twice a day. Good luck!
I was told to just put a really thin layer on and wipe it on the entire bottom lid, from one end to the other As she blinks- it will move and cover most of her eye. (I just pulled out the bottom lid ever so slightly- easier said than done ) You don't need much of the gel- if you use too much it just kind ofgoops up anyway. I was also told (like someone else said) to massage the tearducts a bit. I hope your little sweetie feels better soon. Also, if it is conjunctivitis, wash your hands constantly- it seems like once one child got it- the others all ended up with it. But maybe its's just the tear duct.
